MultiCultural piano short description
This piano is a tuned acoustic piano tuned with an Arabic Makam in the middle of it. A Far-East Bells in the high range. A Rock Bass & Drums- sound preparation on the low range. An African Pentatonic microtonal scale -Balafon style in the mid low range. An additional track ios Ethiopia- a piece written to the memory of Salomon Taka that evolve to protests of the Ethiopian community.

The Multicultural piano detailed description

The multi-cultural piano is a normal acoustic piano that has been tuned, prepared and transformed into a "weast" ( west + east) peace piano. It is enabling a dialogue and synthesis between cultures. In its center i tuned a microtonal scale that combines Arabic Makam scale. In the high range of the piano Gamelan meditative bells were tuned by lowering two strings out of three in each pitch. In the low range leather were put between the strings in order to mute them a bit. I wanted to achieve an illusion of an Electric Bass sound. A metal clip and a wine cork were put in the lowest bass pitches in order to produce Bass-drum and Snare industrial Rock drum machine. The microtonal scale is an Arabic Bayat Makam . It is created by lowering 1/4 tones down Mi and Si.
A completely non-tempered microtonal pentatonic African scale is also created in the mid-low range. It was done in order to o achieve an illusion of a Balafon (an African marimba) The keyboards colors demonstrate the cultural diversity. In general, any piano is capable of such transformation. Each piano i have created is unique in its specific cultures mix. This "United Nathions- piano" balance is created according to the place and cultural contexts The multi-cultural piano is good for music composers and therapists. Everyone can play this piano which is a natural acoustic Gadget.
